NAIDOC Week
On Friday, the 25th of July, St Joseph’s celebrated NAIDOC Week. We were very fortunate to have Ms Karpiniec, Mrs Thompson and Miss Jones organise interactive activities for all year levels. Ms. Karpiniec delivered Health lessons with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and traditions. Mrs Thompson transformed our COLA into an indigenous Art room, where students made shell necklaces, clay creations, leaves with messages for our future and playdough totems. Miss Jones held storytime in the library and read ‘Sea Country’ to classes. She had an assortment of activities available for each class based on this picture book. Classes also engaged in some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultural games in the Sports Hall. Overall, it was a fantastic day, and we are all grateful to everyone who made it an enjoyable learning experience.
