Principal's Message

Faithfulness

Faithfulness is our Gospel value for the month of August.

Faithfulness is a gift that takes a long time to grow in us. God loves us. This is His promise. He asks us to trust and rely on him. When we are able to do this we are being faithful. God is faithful to us always. He is always loving us and walking with us through all the good and all the bad.

Faithfuness takes time to grow in each of us. We have to practise it. At times it is difficult and we may not succeed. God loves us every day and it is certain that each day God will keep this promise to us.

We are in relationship with God and with others.  Being faithful is to show loyalty to a person and making the choice to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. This  can be difficult and we may fail. God walks with us and is patient with us. Through our words and actions we are asked by God to live our life to show others His love. In our relationship with God and other people we are able to spread God’s message of love.

Scripture speaks often of God’s faithfulness. Over and over we learn that when God says He will do something, He does it (even when it seems impossible). When He says something will happen, it happens. This is true for the past, the present and the future.

God is eternally reliable, steadfast, and unwavering because faithfulness is one of His inherent attributes. God does not have to work at being faithful; He is faithful. Faithfulness is an essential part of who He is.  In His faithfulness, God protects us from evil, sets limits on our temptations  and forgives us of sin (1 John 1:9).

We can grow in our faithfulness by having a personal relationship with Christ. If we are truly faithful to Him and obey His commands, this will be evident in our lives.

Our challenge is this: Think about the ways you show your faithfulness to God. Are there things that are getting in the way of your faithfulness? Spend time in prayer, asking God to make things clear to you, so that He can grow you in your faithfulness.

“It is with a spirit of service and devotion that I come to the Archdiocese of Hobart,” Bishop Ireland said. “To lead in faith, to serve with love, and to worship in spirit and in truth, as our Lord calls us to do in the Gospel of St John.”

“Bishop Ireland brings a wealth of experience in parish ministry, spiritual and academic formation, and health care,”
