Last week we were lucky enough to have some visitors in our school. Jack the Jumper and Lewis from the JackJumpers ran clinics teaching the skills of basketball such as passing and dribbling. We were also treated to a breakfast from Huon Aquaculture of smoked salmon and eggs. It was amazing to have our assembly hall filled with students (and teachers) eating and enjoying this delicious and nutritious breakfast. Breakfast is an essential way to start each day well as it has many benefits.
Here are some of the Reasons Why You Should Eat Breakfast Every Day
- Improves Concentration and Focus. Eating in the morning helps us start the day with more energy
- Helps Lift Your Mood. A healthy breakfast can improve mood as you are not distracted by hunger sensations. This results in people feeling less grumpy and more happy.
- Helps Manage Your Appetite. The first meal of the day is a chance to get the energy we need to learn, play and stay healthy. Eating breakfast helps to replenish your body’s glucose stores that have been depleted overnight.
- Improves Academic Performance. Breakfast may improve memory, concentration, the speed with which information is processed, reasoning, creativity, learning, and speaking talents in both adults and children according to research.
- Boosts Your Immune System.

We look forward to meeting with you.
Wellbeing
Next week we are offering a session for our Year 3-6 girls. In the Year 3-6 Program, students will be involved in learnings from The Live Life Whole Project, which is a suite of preventative health education modules designed to help young women understand more about their physical, mental and emotional health. The team will be visiting our school on Monday 24th June.
The knowledge and content provided in these programs comes from a team of experienced health professionals, learning and curriculum specialists and sporting ambassadors with over 70 years of experience collectively, working with young women. Topics are covered specifically from the perspective of female physiology and psychology including nutrition, sleep, female health, movement, stress, body image, connection and belonging, values and boundaries.
These sessions will be supported by your child’s teacher & we believe will be of great value to the students in helping them to support their physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
We are also providing an opportunity for parents and families to learn more. We invite you to participate in the Zoom session. Details are below.

This term Leatherwood have explored the meaning of Church and church. We learned that Church means us the people- the community of God, and church is the building where we sing, pray and celebrate. We furthered this learning by exploring Pentecost and when the Holy Spirit came. We had many fantastic wonderings about this event! To deepen our understanding of the Holy Spirit, we have been focusing on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, and how we can demonstrate these in our lives every day. To start our learning on Sacraments, we have been identifying and sharing where in the world we see God’s love.
