Last week I spent a large portion of the week in meetings. As much as being away from school is not ideal, it does provide me with the opportunity to network, collaborate and celebrate the successes of our school. During the week we hear from speakers to inspire and motivate all schools to continue to strive for and plan for the next moves to ensure that we are achieving high expectations in learning for all. My take outs for the week included the pride I have in the work our teachers do to support learning for all. At St Joseph's we have processes and procedures to support the learning and growth of staff and students enriched by feedback and unity.
The Church has just begun it's new year. Pope Francis last week announced that 2024 be the Year of Prayer. It is through prayer that we draw closer to God. We are called to silence ourselves, and be aware of the presence of God in everything that we do in our lives.
These are some ideas that you may be able to incorporate into your day to day.
- Start the day as you walk out of the house with the sign of the cross. This small act invites God to be a part of our every day lives.
- Create a sacred space - Having a small dedication or space in your house or garden that calls you to reflect and spend some time in thanks or prayer.
- Find a routine - Routines allow us to find the time and prioritise the things that are important. For some, just as we wake or others as the day ends is a good time to pray.
- Read Scripture - dedicating time to read the Bible can inform us and connect us to Jesus story.
Please pray for Fr Arokia. He is currently in Hobart recovering from surgery. He is getting better every day and we are hopeful that he will be back with us on the West Coast soon.

Reconciliation Week Photos
Reconciliation Week is an important week in Australia's calendar. It is a week to stop to endeavour and ensure that we continue to strive for unity in our country.
The West Coast community held an event that our First Nations students attended with Mrs Austbo and Mrs McLeod.
We held our celebrations for Reconciliation Week on Tuesday 28th May.
Seesaw feedback
As a system we are committed to providing frequent feedback to families. Seesaw is the platform that allows us to do this. We are seeking feedback on how we are going with this? Currently, we have committed to regularly providing parents feedback in a number of learning domains on a termly basis as well as providing parents with snapshots of learning. We are wondering how we are going with that and if this information is providing parents with what they want. Please spend a couple of minutes completing this survey so we can work towards what our parents need from us.

Chess Tournament
We are hoping to take a school group to Strahan on Friday 21st June to participate in a Chess Tournament. If you would like your child to be involved please let the office know. We will be taking the first 8 students who indicate their interest. If your child is enrolled in Children’s University this is a way to add some hours to their passports that can go towards graduations in November.
Good decision board
At St Joseph's we strive to continually develop a variety of strategies that are used across the school in the building of positive relationships. This term some classes will be trialling and using good decision boards in classrooms.
Good Decision Boards (Prep - 6):
All classes (P-6) have smaller whiteboards in the classrooms with the names of each student
Each day all students begin under the heading READY TO LEARN
If students make good choices with behaviour they can move to GOOD DECISION and OUTSTANDING.
If students are making poor choices they can move their name to THINK CAREFULLY and CONSEQUENCE.
If a child gets to CONSEQUENCE they will be sent to Mrs McLeod or Mr Jones, and the parent will be communicated with.
If a child gets to OUTSTANDING they can receive an award and/or the parent might be informed and they may be sent to Mrs McLeod or Mr Jones.
Each Day the board is reset indicating the new opportunity we have each day.
